Abstract

The advantage of using a fluidized bed compared to filtration in submerged biofilters and activated sludge treatment in conventional aeration tanks in biological wastewater treatment systems of enterprises of the agroindustrial complex is shown. An increase of the real area of formation of a biofilm of microorganisms and rate of biochemical oxidation of contaminants by attached microflora occurs in a three-phase layer. Due to an increase in the concentration of biomass in the aeration structure, it is possible to shorten its retention time, in connection with which operating costs and structural volume of treatment plants are reduced considerably.
