Abstract

A model of the population dynamics of ammonifiers is proposed. It is shown that the rate of ammonification doesn’t depend on the C: N ratio in the microbial biomass. It also follows from theoretical constructions that the biomass (or abundance) of ammonifying bacteria in soil should be proportional to the humus content.
