Abstract
Interbreed differentiation of 12 improved and local horse breeds is studied based on 17 DNA microsatellites. Genetic differences between breeds are established; private alleles are noted in the majority of breeds. Genetic distances between breeds are calculated, an analysis of which shows considerable genetic differences between local and improved breeds.
