Abstract
The motion of a narrow ring on a horizontal plane with asymmetric orthotropic friction has been studied. The direction of the velocity of the center of mass is determined, as well as the distance to the instantaneous center of velocity at the moment when the body stops. It has been shown that, at the initial pure rotation, some acceleration of the center of mass occurs and a plane-parallel motion begins. In the case of initial translational motion, the character of this motion does not change.
