Abstract

The effect of pressure evolution during braking on the temperature of a pad-disk tribosystem is studied. For this purpuse, the analytical solution of the thermal problem of friction during braking for a parallel-sided layer moving with a time-varying velocity on the surface of a semi-infinite foundation is obtained. Both elements of the friction pair are compressed by normal pressure increasing with time. Pressure fluctuation and thermal resistance on the friction surface are taken into account as well. Numerical analysis is carried out for the metal-ceramic pad-cast-iron disc friction pair.
