Abstract
Recent designs at Giprokoks for the construction and reconstruction of coke batteries are reviewed. Innovations considered include increase in size of the coking chamber, the coking of rammed stamped cake, the introduction of environmental measures, differential furnace heating, updating of coke machines, and improvements in dry-quenching systems. Wall stability is analyzed for furnaces of height 7 m.
