Abstract
A two-level approach to selecting the optimal organization of a system with a specified set of elements is considered. This approach is based on the information principle and supplements the method of optimal system organization on the basis of complexity criteria (evolutionary synthesis). A top-down strategy for the selection of the optimal option is considered; the analysis moves from the system to the process. This strategy includes two stages: (1) the search for an optimal system solution, in which the dominant role is played by the macrolevel parameters or weighting factors that determine the place of the process in the overall structure; (2) the adjustment of the target parameters to ensure optimal conditions of the system as a whole. As an example, the selection of parameters for the water-gas shift reaction of synthesis gas so as to ensure the required H2 : CO ratio is considered.
