Abstract

The effectiveness of stabilization ($/t of hot metal) is assessed for ten coke samples. A method of comparing coke quality is proposed, on the basis of its influence on the coke consumption in hot-metal production. Three formulas for the dependence of the coke consumption on its quality are considered. The relation between the effectiveness of coke stabilization and its initial properties is found to be stochastic. Analysis shows that the effectiveness of stabilization is slightly reduced when the cost of stabilization is taken into account at levels of $0.05 and $0.1 per revolution of the stabilizing drum.
