Abstract

Peculiarities of radiation of a stack of cholesteric liquid crystal and isotropic medium layers are considered. The problem is solved by Ambartsumian’s layer addition modified method. Peculiarities of the reflection spectra and the spectra of photonic density of states are studied. It is shown that the system can be used in laser technique for constructing low-threshold lasers, which are tunable in a wide band of the radiation wavelength.
