A method of investigation of interface between two immiscible liquids

Journal of Contemporary Physics (Armenian Academy of Sciences) Aims and scope

Abstract

Burst of the output power of radiation is recorded when the metal-coated conical point of an optical fiber crosses the interface of immiscible liquids. This phenomenon is caused by the resonance transfer of the wave energy from the inner channel into the outer; formation of a meniscus on the interface in the vicinity of the point promotes this transfer. This method of investigation provides information on the interface of immiscible liquids and on the process of formation of adsorption layers.
