Abstract
Experimental study of the influence of an electric field on the atomic hfs levels of D2 line of Rb atom, transitions 5S 1/2 − 5P 3/2, has been performed. For this purpose a sapphire cell with internal electrodes used to produce a constant electric field was elaborated. By using the saturation absorption technique the frequency shifts of all 12 atomic D2 line transitions were recorded. The results are compared with the theory.
