Abstract

The master equation is derived, which describes the dynamics of a laser with a weakly reflecting additional mirror that can be installed outside or inside the laser cavity. The latter version is realized, in particular, for parasitic intracavity reflections of laser radiation. For a B class (solid-state or semiconductor) lasers, the conditions of instability for the steady-state regime due to the excitation of relaxation oscillations are determined.
