Abstract
The dependence of the superconducting (Meissner) phase volume V m on the YBa2Cu3O6+δ doping level was studied. It was found that V m monotonically decreases as the doping level is lowered and vanishes at the same value of δ ∼ 0.3 as Tc does. It was concluded that the Tc decrease and the increase in the pseudogap formation temperature T* as the doping level is lowered are caused by a decrease in the average size of superconducting clusters. This conclusion suggests an extraordinary superconductivity mechanism in HTSC.
