Abstract
The viscosity of compositions containing 55% pitch and coke dust with a particle size smaller than 0.212 mm which were obtained in a mechanical activator are investigated. The results are compared with data for the pitch-dust composition (PDC) prepared using conventional mixing. For three compositions of the coke charge containing 25, 50, and 75% of the −0.063-mm coke fraction (the rest was the −0.212 + 0.063-mm fraction), it is confirmed that, in the temperature range from 428 to 498°C (all other factors being the same), the viscosity of the mixtures subjected to mechoactivation is always lower than that in the mixtures obtained using conventional mixing.
