Abstract

Dust and slimes from scrubbing steel-smelting aggregates, their elemental and phase compositions, and the possibility of applying them as the raw material for zinc and steel production are considered. The steel-smelting dust is compared with natural ores in content and form in which recovered components are present. The indices of zinc production in Russia and around the world, as well as the variants of processing the dust of steel-smelting aggregates performed on an industrial scale, are presented. The necessity of a complete switch to metallurgical technologies that are almost wasteless from the viewpoint of iron and zinc is noted. Possible ways that steel and zinc industries can interact are shown.
