Abstract

The production of metal wire with a round cross section and without inner defects is especially topical due to its further use, for example, in making conductive wires. One way to prevent defects such as central breaks or cracks in the shape of a chevron is by developing routes for drawing the wire with optimal parameters that are determined by the criteria of conditions for cold deforming without the formation of defects. In this work, a group of criteria based on the geometrical parameters of the deformation region are considered. Their comparison from the viewpoint of practical use for forecast of the appearance of inner defects (like breaks in the continuity of metal) in the course of drawing oxygen-free copper wire with a round cross section is carried out. Recommendations are given to develop this process with the minimum formation and development of inner breaks.
