Abstract

The authors assess wear resistance of a core drilling bit with reinforcing rock-destruction inserts and study the influence of their arrangement on the bit working surface. An equation has been derived to determine the effective wear rate of the bit working surface depending on the method of its reinforcement with rock-destruction inserts. A mathematical model of changes in the drill bit profile has been elaborated, which is suitable for design optimization of a combined matrix, including the selection of a profile, the number and arrangement of rock-destruction inserts with different wear resistance.
