Using Synchrotron Radiation to Investigate Conditions of α2-Phase Formation in Mechanocomposites of a Ti–Al System

Abstract

Synchrotron radiation is used to study the dynamics of phase formation in a mechanically activated 3Ti + Al powder mixture during high-temperature synthesis, under conditions of volumetric ignition via induction heating. The effect the length of treating (1, 3, 7 min) the initial mixture with preliminary mechanical activation has on the macrokinetic parameters of synthesis is studied experimentally.
