Abstract
A model of modular nonlinearity is developed for calculating the field of high-intensity bounded acoustic beams. An exact solution to this problem is obtained. The effect of diffraction and nonlinear effects have on the time profile of the beam is shown. Reducing the aperture results in a sequence of short positive high-amplitude pulses observed experimentally.
