Liquid-Crystal Composites of Carbon Nanotubes in a Magnetic Field: Bridging from the Molecular-Statistical Model to a Phenomenological Theory

Abstract

A representation of free energy in the form of a Landau expansion is obtained on the basis of the thermodynamic potential of the molecular–statistical mean-field theory of liquid crystal composites of carbon nanotubes. The expansion is compared to phenomenological theories proposed earlier.
