Temperature Dependences of Structure-Sensitive Bands in IR Spectra of Polyvinyl Chloride

Abstract

A study is performed of the temperature behavior of IR absorption bands of semicrystalline polyvinyl chloride. The temperature dependences of structure-sensitive absorption bands of PVC are obtained in a wide range of temperatures (100–500 K). An expansion of the complex spectral contour into constituents is used to interpret vibrational bands associated with regions of amorphous and crystalline PVC and assess the extent of crystallinity.
