Investigating the Energies and Electrical Characteristics of the Negative Parity States of the 156Gd Nucleus

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics Aims and scope

Abstract

The negative parity states of the 156Gd nucleus are studied using a phenomenological model that allows for Coriolis interaction between the states of rotational bands. The mixing of octupole band states based on Kπ = 0, 1 is considered. Analytical expressions for calculating the energies, wavefunctions, and probabilities of E1 transitions are obtained. Calculated values of the energies and ratios of the probability of E1 transitions are in good agreement with experimental findings.
