Analyzing the Magnetic Characteristics of 158, 160Gd States Using a Phenomenological Model

Abstract

The structure of excited states and non-adiabatic effects manifested in the probabilities of magnetic transitions in \({}^{{158,\,160}}{\text{Gd}}\) nuclei are studied using a phenomenological model that includes Coriolis mixing of the states of low-lying positive-parity rotational bands. The wavefunctions of excited states are calculated. The effect of the mixing of bands is shown to affect the wavefunctions of vibrational states (the band bases) considerably.
