Possible causes of the violation of correlation links between cloudiness state and galactic cosmic ray fluxes

Abstract

The nature of correlation links observed between low cloud anomalies and galactic cosmic ray (GCR) fluxes on the decadal time scale is studied. It is shown that GCR effects on cloudiness state variations are closely related to the development of dynamic processes in the atmosphere. It is assumed that a possible reason for the violation of positive correlation between cloudiness and GCR fluxes in the early 2000s was the sign reversal of GCR effects on troposphere circulation, due to a change of the state of the stratospheric polar vortex.
