Abstract

A new method for studying nucleus excitation by means of reverse conversion is proposed. This method can be applied on the storage rings of accelerators and is based on data accumulated in studies of dielectronic recombination. A cascade of 2–3 conversion transitions produces a unique facsimile of the process. Reverse conversion cross sections are calculated for beams of few-electron 161Dy ions (e.g., H-, He-, Li-, and Be-like).
