Abstract
Samples of packed red blood cells (PRBC) from standard containers for storing donated blood (35 days as per GOST) are studied. Samples for Mössbauer spectroscopy studies are taken from each container every few days over the period of storage. Analysis of the Mössbauer spectra yield data on variations in the content of different forms of hemoglobin and its derivatives in the samples studied over the storage period. Analysis of the plotted kinetic curves representing changes in the content of these forms provide estimates of the functional states of PRBC from each donor in different storage phases. Revealed distinctions in the kinetics of changes taking place in PRBC from different donors provide data on the effect of individual features of particular donors on the PRBC degradation process.
