Dimensional dependence of the surface energy of thin cadmium films

Abstract

Dimensional and orientational dependences of the surface energy of thin cadmium films are computed by means of electron-statistical theory. The surface energy of different crystal faces is calculated, including the contributions from temperature, oscillation, and dispersion corrections.
