Abstract

A model of gas-discharge transition from glow to diffuse arc, involving the equations of the discharge cathode sheath and the cathode heat balance equation, has been built. Time dependences of the cathode temperature and voltage drop from the moment of glow discharge ignition to the transition from glow to arc have been calculated.
