Abstract
The possibilities of improving the characteristics of neutron telescopes are discussed. A new type of solar neutron detectors is proposed, in which the signal-to-noise ratio is increased by a factor of 6–7. It is proposed to place the neutron detector deep under water (absorber), remaining open an angle of ≈0.1 sr in the direction of the Sun. It is also shown that, due to the high directed sensitivity and extremely low background level, it becomes possible to determine more exactly the neutron energy. It is proposed to develop a world-wide network of such detectors by the next (24th) solar cycle.
