Abstract

By the example of the calculation of the probability of crack nucleation in an adsorber at a gas-processing plant, it is demonstrated that the reliability of the source data sufficient for reliable evaluation of low probabilities of a damage (10−6–10−5) is practically unattainable. It is proposed to consider the estimated probability as an analog of a safety factor and to strictly correlate normative probabilities with the calculation techniques and the hypothesis put into them.
