Abstract
Strong local interaction of microplasma discharges with samples made from construction steel 45 is investigated experimentally. It is found that a remelted region with strongly changed physicochemical properties of the material is formed in the near-surface layer of samples treated with microplasma discharges. It is shown that roughness, microhardness, wear resistance, and other properties of treated samples made from steel 45 differ considerably from the corresponding starting values.
