Implementation of OFDM modulation by using real arithmetic

Abstract

A method of generating the OFDM signal by using the discrete Hartley transform has been presented. This method makes it possible to essentially simplify the modulation and demodulation processes in data transmission systems where data are formed from real data streams including bit streams. A distinctive feature of the proposed method of generating the OFDM signal implies the use of the Hartley transform with subsequent appropriate data stream manipulation making it possible to abandon the use of the QAM modulator and demodulator.
