Abstract

This paper presents data found on Russian-language Websites on private libraries that were placed in the stock of the Historical Museum Library in the period before 1917. This generalized information on libraries and their founders is the result of processing the data discovered on the websites. These are evaluated for their quality; deficiencies and mistakes are detected. On the basis of G. Galutva’s paper, the cause for the mistake made by U.G. Ivask concerning the founder of A.N. Golitsyn’s library is explained. The paper includes sites devoted to libraries of A.D. Chertkov and his son-in-law A.N. Golitsyn, A.I. Baryatinskii, I.M. Viyelgorskii, I.A. Gul’yanov, A.P. Bakhrushin, A.S. Uvarov, P.I. Shchukin, A.S. Suvorin, I.A. Vakhrameyev, E.V. Barsov, P.V. Zubov, O.M. Bodyanskii and A.F. Smirdin. In conclusion, the bibliographic descriptions of some prerevolutionary, Soviet, and modern publications devoted to this topic discovered on the sites are given.
