Abstract

We investigated the effect of sodium nitrate on the progress of stress-induced damages in rats of the Krushinskii-Molodkina strain which are genetically prone to audiogenic seizures. NaNO3, at doses of 5 and 50 mg per 100 g of body weight, decreased the severity of movement impairments and the mean sizes of subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhages induced by acoustical stress. Sodium nitrate, at a dose of 0.5 mg per 100 g of body weight, did not significantly influence these changes.
