Abstract

The possibilities of using various schemes of axisymmetric prism concentrators for solar photovoltaic modules (SPVMs) are considered. Their concentrating characteristics are estimated and it is shown that they can provide concentrations from 2 to 20. The light transmittance of prisms is in the range from 0.7 to 0.9. The use of axisymmetric prism concentrators has several advantages: they are compact, do not require coatings, allow various defocusing, and their production can be automated.
