Novelties in Asteraceae from southern Mexico

Abstract

Fieldwork in western Oaxaca and central Guerrero, in connection with the project to enumerate the flora of the Mixteca Alta region of Oaxaca, has resulted in the discovery of the following taxa:Psacaliopsis paneroi var.juxtlahuacensis, Roldana mixtecana (Senecioneae);Sinclairia ismaelis (Liabeae);Cosmos juxtlahuacensis, Tagetes arenicola, andVerbesina juxtlahuacensis (Heliantheae). All but the last are illustrated, and their distinctive morphological traits are discussed and compared to putative sister species.
