Abstract

The monotypePlagiolirion horsmannii has been re-collected from remnant forest of the Río Cauca valley in Colombia, 94 years after its last known collection. Examination of mature fruits and seed clearly establishes the phylogenetic affinities of the genus withEucharis, Caliphruria, andUrceolina and thus its placement in tribe Eucharideae of the Amaryllidaceae. A description of the genus and karyotype (2n=46) are provided.
