Abstract
While preparing a treatment of the genusRhynchospora forFlora Mesoamericana, a new species from Cerro Pirre was discovered.Rhynchospora pirrensis, described and illustrated here, can be distinguished from other species in sectionPaniculatae by its long, broad, mostly basal leaves and its punctatepapillose achenes. A key to all the broad-leaved species of that section is provided.
