A new Salvia (Labiatae) from Hispaniola

Abstract

Salvia paryskii, a yellow-flowered member of sectionEkmania, is described and illustrated from the narrow ridge connecting Pic Formon and Pic Macaya in the Massif de la Hotte of Haiti. The new species is compared to its closest relative,S. tuerckheimii, and differs primarily in its obovate leaves and denser inflorescences. Included is a brief discussion of the vegetation of this remote area of Parc National Pic Macaya.
