A new ribbon-leaved aquatic bulrush in madagascar (Cyperaceae: Scirpus)

Abstract

Scirpus heterophyllus, known only from Madagascar, is described and compared withS. erectus. The unusual leaf dimorphism is pointed out, and the presence of chlorenchyma above and below air cavities in leaf blades and involucral bracts is regarded as a useful taxonomic character.
