Abstract
Two species ofStereum are discussed. One,S. macrocystidiatum from Java, is described as new; the other,S. illudens Berk., is redescribed from Mexico-Guatemala collections. Study of this material leads to the conclusion thatXylobolus Karst. emend. Boidin cannot be maintained as distinct fromStereum Hill ex S. F. Gray. Subgeneric distinctions between these two groups of species are also rejected.
