Abstract
Are the newer antidepressant drugs really new or merely improvements on the old? After all, their efficacy is similar to the old, they are still required to be given over the long term, their mechanism of action is still dependent on neurotransmitter availability, and all still have a delayed onset of action, according to Dr Bill Lyndon from the University of Sydney, Australia, speaking at the International Congress on Depressive Disorders [ Melbourne, Australia; July 1999 ].
