Abstract
Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases are typically classed as neurodegenerative diseases. Both conditions have stimulated intense research efforts in the race to find effective treatments. The cells and processes involved, and possible sites of intervention, were discussed at the William Harvey Research Conference on Novel Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration: Neurotrophins, Cytokines and Inflammation [ London, UK; January 1998 ].
