Abstract
Acne continues to dominate the list of skin complaints most frequently seen by physicians. The available therapeutic options are helpful for many patients, but need to be matched to the degree of disease severity to provide an optimum risk:benefit ratio. Recent advances in topical acne treatments, the issue of antibacterial resistance and tips on how to prescribe oral isotretinoin safely and effectively were presented at the 56th Annual Meeting of the American Dermatology Association [ Orlando, US; March 1998 ].
