Abstract
The proliferative effects that cytokines have on cells is matched only by the proliferation of research into this highly interesting area. The potential indications for these agents are expanding rapidly, and this was reflected in the wide spectrum of data presented at ‘The Metcalf Forum: Polyfunctionality of Haemopoietic Regulators' [ Dublin, Eire; September 1994 ]. Importantly, the progress that is being made may soon translate into tangible benefits in terms of improved survival in patients with conditions such as cancer and congenital neutrophil deficiency.
