PGE1: a useful tool for beating impotence

Abstract

Intracavernosal injection of prostaglandin E1 [(PGE1); alprostadil] has become an important tool for both the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction of diverse aetiologies, reported international experts earlier this month. In some cases, it even appears to be a long-term cure for the problem. Recent experience with a diluted form of alprostadil [Prostin VR® Upjohn] in patients with erectile dysfunction was presented at an Upjohn-sponsored conference in Kalamazoo, US.
