Abstract
1993 has seen 3 essentially independent sets of work on genetic vaccines come into the open. Taken separately, each has provided convincing data for an antigen delivery technique worthy of serious consideration; taken together, they promise an approach that combines the positive aspects of live attenuated vaccines with the safety of recombinant subunit vaccines.
