概要
岩土材料(如黏土、砂土、岩石和混凝土等)在颗粒尺度上均具有独特且明显的微观结构(如组构、粒径、颗粒形状、矿物组成、接触模式和内部孔隙等)。这些颗粒尺度的微观结构较难直接观察,但对岩土材料的宏观物理力学行为(如剪切强度、压缩性和渗透性等)有着显著的影响。近年来,各种新型岩土工程材料(如纤维增强土和生物加固土)表现出更加复杂的微观结构。岩土材料微观结构对材料工程性质的影响促使人们采用更加先进的理论、实验和数值方法对其进行探索,从而大大加深了人们对宏微观力学的认识与理解。为分享岩土材料微观结构和微观力学的最新研究进展,本专辑收集了在该研究领域具有代表性的研究成果,涵盖了颗粒-颗粒和颗粒-流体相互作用、X射线计算机断层扫描观测技术及其应用、颗粒破碎和颗粒形状的影响、岩石裂隙扩展等方面。希望本专辑能加强读者对各个研究领域的理解,并进一步推动多场多尺度问题的应用和发展。

Prof. Zhenyu YIN has been an Editorial Board Member of Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE A (Applied Physics & Engineering) since 2019. Prof. YIN is currently Full Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China). Prof. YIN received his B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Zhejiang University (China) in 1997, followed by five years of engineering consultancy at the Zhejiang Jiahua Architecture Design Institute (China). Then, he obtained his M.Sc. degree and Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical Engineering at Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France) in 2003 and 2006, respectively. Prof. YIN has published over 250 articles in peer-reviewed international journals with an H-index of 51 according to the Web of Science. He is an Associate Committee Member of the Granular Materials Committee of American Society of Civil Engineers, Associate Editor of European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering and Geotechnique Letters, and Editorial Board Member of some top journals in the field of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering (Canadian Geotechnical Journal, International Journal of Geomechanics ASCE, Soils and Foundations, Acta Geotechnica, Transportation Geotechnics, Computers and Geotechnics, GeoRisk, etc.).
Dr. Pei WANG is a Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) in 2018. Before that, he received his B.Eng. in Highway Engineering from Chang’an University (China) and M.Sc. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Tongji University (China). Dr. WANG’s work focuses on multiscale computational modeling of (cemented) granular materials, micro-mechanical analysis of soil behavior, experimental and numerical analysis of particle breakage with XCT and DEM, soilstructure interface, and suffusion of granular materials. Dr. WANG has published more than 20 peerreviewed papers in top journals and served as a guest editor for Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE A (Applied Physics & Engineering) and International Journal for Multiscale Computational Engineering.
Dr. Sheng DAI is an associate professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Ocean Science and Engineering, and holds a courtesy appointment at the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA). He earned his degrees from Tongji University (China) and Georgia Institute of Technology, and was an ORISE postdoc at the National Energy Technology Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. DAI and his group study geomaterials and geomechanics, energy geotechnics, and bio-inspired geotechnics to address emerging energy and environmental challenges. He is an associated editor of Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth and serves on the editorial board for Geomechanics for Energy and the Environment and Advances in Geo-Energy Research. He is the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award.
