Abstract

A multi-zone (multi-dimensional) model is used to model the in-cylinder radiative heat transfer of a direct injection diesel engine. The space and the surface of the ω-combustion chamber are approximated by simple geometric shapes and discretized. The model takes into consideration the complexity of the structure of the combustion chamber and the non-uniform distribution of the radiation medium, and uses the Monte-Carlo method to simulate the in-cylinder radiative heat transfer.
