Editor’s Note
In producing the MRS BULLETIN, we have become increasingly aware of the relationship between the originators of scientific news and the reporters of that news. At times it seems to emulate the lovelhate relationship so apparent in political reporting. Because the scientific Community is rarely exposed to the view from the reporter’s vantage point, this article was invited to provide it. The article seems especially appropriate in light of all the fast-paced developments in superconductors, and the discovery of a Supernova.
